Write & review bids

The bid-writing experience deeply transformed for better accessibility and efficiency across multiple teams and throughout the whole bid-cycle.

The editor before

When I joined, this is what the editor looked like: no collaboration, poor balance between the writing canvas and AI editing tools, the tool felt out-dated and really cluttered.

My first squad was Review which focussed on bringing a brand new functionality: review capability with the app. In bid-writing, the review cycles are essential to multiply chances of success to get a bid.

We then reshaped the team and it became the Core squad, where our realm evolved to be fully focussed on the whole writing experience: sole writer for SMEs to multi-teams for Enterprise clients.

This is when we prioritised making the editor into a much more accessible, future-proof and guided experience to get the most out of our tool. I’ll present 3 main pieces of work in this case study:

  • Editor redesign

  • Ask AI

  • Saved Prompts

The new editor

On the left you can see the full new editor with the new brand implemented. And on the right it is progress being made by the team to match the new designs step by step.

You can see a much more flexible and customisable editor with better focus for accessibility: both the left navigation and the right-hand side panel are fully collapsible and now even resizeable for writers to really make it their own space.

Key features in the editor

None of the following existed before I joined and I was fully in charge to shape these within my trio in the squad.

AskAI

I was in charge of implementing a new feature to interact with the text directly on the canvas, either the whole document, or a selected portion of it.

Saved Prompts

Our clients have asked for a way to reuse some of the prompts they take time to polish and test. We did a lot of research and came up with a V1.

Collaboration

When I joined there was no collaboration possible on the app, and now there is a full review functionality, comments and there can be live collaboration within a document as well.

AskAI - Inline menu

One of my most documented 0 to 1 projects I worked on was AskAI. You know that tool which is present on most writing softwares, which involves very robust inline menu allowing the user to prompt from a whole portion of text to a very specific paragraph.

This work included user research, iterations, lots of pairing on micro-interactions with my squad. It was highly complex and very enjoyable to work on.
